Girl Scout Pins
The Girl Scout program encourages girls of all ages to participate in a wide variety of healthy activities which help to develop strong social, mental and physical skills. The skills, abilities and lessons learned through these programs help girls become better people and live more fulfilling lives through far reaching skill sets. To help acknowledge and encourage these girls, a special set of skills has been developed and there is a corresponding set of Girl Scout pins that goes with them. These pins play an integral part of the program and are necessary for the advancement to progressively higher levels.
The Girl Scout insignias fall into four major categories, including emblems such as the Girl Scouts of the USA, council, troop membership, and identification insignias. And then there are the earned level awards, which include those earned by completing requirements or demonstrating understanding of a concept as defined in Girl Scout program books. The third category is referred to as additional awards which are earned through requirements determined by GSUSA or by other organizations, such as lifesaving and religious awards.
The fourth category consists of participation patches and pins. These patches and pins are an extra addition which was created at the national and council levels. These pins are usually awarded to individual scouts based on participation activities. Girl Scouts can get a leg up on their progress by looking into different activity books that will help them polish their participation skills as well as give them great ideas on how to go about achieving those particular pins.
