Lone Star Girl Scouts

You do not have to be in a troop to be a Girl Scout.

A girl may find that

  • her schedule of activities can no longer include a troop meeting
  • there may not be a troop in her area
  • her troop has disbanded and she does not want to join another troop
  • she wants to be involved in Girl Scouting for only one or two activities such as resident camping, a council trip or an interest group

Circle T Council feels that every girl should be offered the opportunity to participate in enriching program activities. She can still be a Girl Scout and not be affiliated with a troop. In this council, those non-troop-affiliated girls are called Lone Stars.

What can a Lone Star do?

A Lone Star can

  • do all of the same things that her sister Girl Scouts can do except that she does not participate in a troop.
  • wear the special "Juliettes" patch on her uniform in place of troop numbers
  • receive Council mailings which provide information on program opportunities.
  • register for and attend council-sponsored activities for her age level with individual registration including Resident Camp, Day Camp, Hot Stuff for Summer, Council trips, and Program Aide training.
  • register for and attend council-sponsored activities with troop registration if a parent can also attend.
  • earn Girl Scout awards from Try-Its to Badges to Interest Projects to Focus Awards to the Silver Award and the Gold Award.
  • take part in program opportunities offered in her Girl Scout Community (geographic area).
  • sell Girl Scout cookies and Girl Scouts Nuts and Candy.

Who can help a Lone Star?

Without a Girl Scout leader to guide her, a parent or other adult mentor will need to help a Lone Star work on some of the Girl Scout awards and watch council publications for appropriate activities. The adult is not required to take Girl Scout training, but would find some of the training courses helpful. Circle T Council staff is available to assist with program ideas and to answer questions. Contact the Girl Scout Center at 817-737-7272 or 800-582-7272, for more information.

How can you be a Lone Star?

Submit an online Girl Scout interest form, or get a membership registration form from the nearest Girl Scout Shop , enclose a check for $10.00 to Circle T Council and return it to the Girl Scout Center. If your parent wishes to join, ask her to complete the same process. Your registration will ensure that you receive Circle T publications. Your name will be included in the list of Lone Stars provided to program event directors so that they may include you in Community activities.

This is your chance to continue to be a Girl Scout in a different way.

Don’t miss out on all Girl Scouting has to offer.
