Girl Scout Day with the Texas Rangers .

On Field Recognition:
• Pre-game parade on the field - must arrive by 12:30 p.m.
• On field recognition for Girl Scouts
• Ceremonial first pitch by a Girl Scouts Representative

Girl Scouts Fundraiser:
The Texas Rangers will donate $2 to the council selected in the order form. The donation is included in the price of the ticket.

First 500 Girl Scouts to register will receive a special patch for attending the game.

Texas Girls’ State Fair 2008 .

September 26 – October 19
Presented by The Women’s Museum at Fair Park

Are you a girl between the ages of 10 and 18 who has won a top award in Texas? Do you know girls who are winners? This is your opportunity to be recognized!

The Women’s Museum invites girls of the Lone Star State who have received top honors in:
Science, Math, Music, Dance, Drama, Writing, Sports, Cheerleading, National award winners, and more to participate in the Texas Girls’ State Fair. There will be many opportunities to demonstrate your talents or display awards and winning projects to everyone during the 2008 State Fair of Texas. The events are held at The Women’s Museum. Educational scholarships will be awarded for the top submissions. Registration deadline is May 1, 2008.

Camp CommUNITY provides a place to voice opinions and create experiences, a place to be expressive and a place to belong. Camp CommUNITY is a five-day residential leadership camp designed to educate you to be a responsible leader and a social change advocate in our diverse community.

Who can Apply? High school students who will be entering their junior and senior year as of September 2008.

Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes .

Nominate a Leader for the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes

The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes honors outstanding young leaders who have made a significant, positive difference to people and our planet through leadership and courage in public service. In line with the Girl Scouting mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place, Girl Scouts are excellent candidates for these awards. Nominations may be made by adults who have solid knowledge of the nominee or her work, but who are not related to the nominee. This year’s nomination deadline is April 30, 2008.

Each year, the Barron Prize selects 10 winners nationwide who receive $2,000 to support their higher education or their service work. In past years, at least one Girl Scout Gold Award recipient has been selected to receive this award.
